This will be graded on completion and accuracy. Each assignment will comprise of suggested problems and graded problems. Late work will result in a loss of points. No late homework will be accepted after the chapter test has been taken.
Quizzes will be open note. Your lowest quiz score will be dropped each semester.
These will be designed to prepare you for the IB exams. Therefore, they will be graded in the same way. Each test will include material from any topic we have studied. Assessments will be taken in pen to prepare for your end of year papers.
A = 90-100%, B =80-89%, C = 70-79%, NC = anything below 70%.
It is essential for both students and parents to understand that your grade in this class is separate from your grade on your IB exams.
This class should prepare you for IB assessments and evaluations, but my grading system will differ from that of the International Baccalaureate. In short, what appears in the grade book will affect the student’s course letter grade and GPA, while their performance on IB exams andinternal assessments will contribute to the IB diploma.
External Assessment (3 hours) - 80%
Paper 1 (1 hour 30 minutes) - 15 compulsory short-response questions based on the whole syllabus. (90 marks) - 40%
Paper 2 (1 hour 30 minutes) - 6 compulsory extended-response questions based on the whole syllabus. (90 marks) - 40%
Internal Assessment Project - 20%
This component is internally assessed by the teacher and externally moderated by the IB at the end of the course. The project is an individual piece of work involving the collection of information or the generation of measurements, and the analysis and evaluation of the information or measurements.
